Alyssa is highly experienced in vocational education and training with over 20 years experience as a TAFE fashion teacher and TAFE manager. Her trade background is in freelance design/custom dressmaking, alterations and soft furnishings. She has been a past winner of a number of Tasmanian fashion design competitions including the Gown of the year twice.
She has also been finalist, and winner of a ‘Merrit Award’ in the Australian Gown of the Year. Alyssa has guided many past students in the past to both state and national design success and loves sharing her skills to inspire students to find their own design style. Her areas of speciality are in design development, draping, fashion illustration, fabric manipulation, tailoring and special occasion wear.
Alyssa has a Diploma of Applied Fashion and Design, a Bachelor of Adult and Vocational Education, a Diploma of Fine Arts and has attended an advanced Fashion Illustration course at Whitehouse School of Design, Sydney. She enjoys inspiring and challenging students to find their own design style.
